2017 Review
2017 Year in Review
Hey Friends! J & V here! It is hard to believe that we are wrapping up the year already! 2017 has flown by! It has certainly been a year full of ups and downs. Our word for this year was “Growth.” We have lived that word every single day! We are constantly expanding our seating in the shop, inside and out, as well as growing our relationships! We welcomed new team members to our family this year! Hope joined us in May, Jennifer followed in June, and Victoria W. joined us in October. Finding a staff of people who genuinely enjoy coming to work and spending time together after work is priceless!
Our shop has been full of love and laughter all year long! We have experienced everything from awkward first dates, anniversaries, birthday parties, fundraisers, rock painting nights, book signings, Coffee with a Cop, internship programs, painting nights where we partnered with other local small businesses, local school outreaches, reunions, holiday parties, corporate events, etc! We believe that every single person has a story and we have truly treasured getting to know so many of them this year.
This year we hit a lot of milestones! We celebrated our one year anniversary on August 1st! We did it thanks to all of you! We enjoyed our Ribbon Cutting ceremony with a big party with our family and friends! We won “Best of the Best Coffeeshop” and “Best Cinnamon Rolls in Middle Georgia.” We were invited to showcase our desserts and coffee in the annual Food Fest & Business Expo sponsored by Robins Regional Chamber. We hosted Get Lit Indy Books & Art Mini Fest. We were featured in a major print magazine out of Atlanta, VoyageATL, as well as a local magazine Odara Media. Special thanks to the Macon Telegraph, the Houston Home Journal, 13 WMAZ, and The Creek 100.9 FM for always covering our many events and growth. We have met so many wonderful people this year!
This year we founded It Takes a Village, a non-profit organization that helps meet needs in our community and create connections with those who strive to make a difference. Our biggest project this year was a major success! We filled two trucks full of school supplies, toiletries, clothing, books, diapers, wipes, etc, and delivered it to Houston County DFCS for their foster child program. Our hearts broke wide open when we found out that so many children in our community are in need of the basic living necessities. We believe in the Mother Teresa quote “we belong to each other,” and we are privileged to be the boots on the ground for projects such as this. We look forward to sharing our new projects for 2018 with all of you soon!
Our word for the coming year is “Flourish.” We have set high goals both personally and professionally for 2018 and we look forward to meeting them with all of you! Here’s to many more years full of coffee beans, milk pitchers, favorite authors, laughter, and love.
